Phoebe Day & Jordan Astra

  • Paris Cat Jazz Club 6 Goldie Place Melbourne, VIC, 3000 Australia (map)

Rising RNB/Neo Soul songstress, Phoebe Day teams up with Canadian-born, Melbourne-based RNB/Hip-Hop artist Jordan Astra for an exclusive, one-night only performance. Featuring and all-star band of Melbourne's finest, Day and Astra have prepared a show not to be missed!

Phoebe Day captivates listeners with an alluring vocal tone, emotive lyrics and dreamy soundscapes. Her voice bounces between a velvety lower register and a delicate, breathy falsetto. Day exudes speakeasy and golden-era charm whilst creating a sound that is fresh and relevant. She is unafraid to blur the lines between jazz, soul and R&B, and notes Chet Baker, Miles Davis, Melody Gardot, Amy Winehouse, and Erykah Badu as her greatest influences.

Day's upcoming EP When Flowers Bloom is set for release in the coming months featuring a duet with Jordan Astra.
After releasing lead single Glow in October 2019, Day has garnered much attention from fans and critics alike. Described as 'effortlessly cool, unapologetically feminine' and 'reminiscent of Sade and Erykah Badu with a nod to fashion icon Audrey Hepburn' (Onya Magazine, AU), one can begin to understand why she's turning heads both locally and internationally.
Moving from Toronto, Canada to Melbourne, Australia in 2013, Jordan has dedicated himself to his musical career releasing over 20 songs in just three years. Hugely inspired by the sounds of the Neptunes, Jamiroquai, Hip Hop and RNB, Jordan Astra’s music incorporates live instrumentation, dynamic arrangements and catchy choruses you can’t get out of your head. Jordan Astra’s music is solely written, produced and engineered, making his sound truly unique.

In the last year, Jordan Astra's career has sky-rocketed.
In 2019, Astra travelled to the USA where he performed and won The Showcase Tour's $50,000 artists' prize. In the same year, he supported American Hip-Hop artist Leikeli47 for her performance at Melbourne's iconic venue, The Epsy.

Day and Astra have spent the last 12 months collaborating on each other's projects. They have combined Day's foundation in jazz and neo soul with Astra's expertise in Hip-Hop and Contemporary RNB, to create a truly unique experience for audiences.
